Who doesn’t love a vacation? At least I do! And I believe that we all need a good break from time to time.
Even when I was still in the middle of my vacation, I was often already planning a new one. Just to make sure I always had something to look forward to. It could be a long vacation abroad or just a night away here in The Netherlands.
If you ask me, I believe that we cannot keep running in the hustle and bustle of everyday life without taking breaks.
Whether you’re working or not, it’s good to get away from it all sometimes. And yes, even though you really love your job, you still need your breaks.
The past year has proven that to me even more.
At this point, I’ve been suffering from PCS for over a year, and I’m so happy that my vacation is finally around the corner. Not because my life was so busy last year. The exact opposite.
Over the past year, I have spent countless hours on the couch. Just doing nothing, because that was all I could do…
Fortunately, things are getting better and some good things are finally coming my way. But the recovery process was (and still is) quite tough, especially mentally. That is difficult to explain to outsiders, but also to my loved ones.
My social life was very limited (barely didn’t exist), I could no longer play sports – a 5-minute walk was already exhausting, and I was in the same 50m2 apartment 24/7.
So even though things are getting better, you can probably imagine that I am ready for a change of scenery.
And I believe that’s important for everyone.
By stepping away from everyday life every now and then, you get the chance to recharge. And to recharge really well! You see new things, create new memories, and get new ideas.
So when was the last time you took a good break?
More than six months ago? Then this is your reminder to decide when you will finally take that break. You not only need it, you deserve it! Even if it’s just one day at the forest or the beach.
